Being a nurse in a neonatal intensive care unit can be stressful, trying, and emotional. But mostly it is rewarding and amazing to witness little miracles overcome some enormous obstacles. It is always an honor to care for these infants and their families…and such a blessing.
My mother gave birth to me at 34 weeks, and I can't help but feel a connection with the tiny ones I care for. So when I had the opportunity to photograph an event for our NICU, celebrating all the little lives who have graduated from our unit and into the great, wide, world, I was happy to take advantage of it. These families have been through so much…it was so wonderful to see so many smiling faces! Here's a little peek at Preemie Day 2015:
